  1. Treatment for alcoholism, drug or substance use

  2. Prosthetic devices which are self detachable without surgery involving anaesthesia

  3. Treatment availed outside India

  4. Treatment at a healthcare facility which is not a hospital

  5. obesity/weight control

  6. Expenses related to the treatment for correction of eyesight due to refractive error less than 7.5 diopters

  7. Cosmetic or plastic surgery (except accident)

  8. Circumcision (except required for treatment)

  9. Change of gender treatments

  10. Non allopathic treatment

  11. Treatment which could have done on OPD basis

  12. Unproven treatments

  13. Investigation & evaluation

  14. Rest cure rehabilitation and respite care

    1. Nursing facility for activities of daily living like bathing etc. are not covered

    2. Any services for terminally ill people to address physical,social,emotional and spiritual needs

  15. Vaccination except post bite treatment

  16. Hearing aids, spectacles etc.

  17. Treatment in spas

  19. Sleep apnoea

  20. External congenital diseases, defects or anomalies

  21. Maternity

  22. Sterility & infertility

  23. Expenses incurred on organ donation by the insured

  24. Treatment for adjustment of spinal subluxation

  25. Non medical expenses mentioned in Annexure 1

  26. Excluded providers (hospitals, medical practitioners excluded by the insurer)

  27. Treatment by a medical practitioner for which he is not licensed

  28. Treatments by doctors who are close relatives

  29. Unreasonable charges or medically unnecessary treatments

  30. Drugs or treatments not supported by a prescription

  31. Specific exclusions imposed by the insurer

  32. Admission for administration of Intra - articular or Intra-lesion injections, supplementary medications like Zolendronic acid or !V immunoglobulin infusion.


When buying a health policy, study the exclusions and waiting periods. These are more important than restore benefits or cumulative bonuses. It is true that the policy is really good. But that does not mean that you should not be well informed about what is not covered in the policy.
